    Agenda items: reports from the Eighth Meeting, the UNAIDS Executive Director, the Committee of Cosponsoring Organizations and the NGO representative; the Impact of HIV/AIDS on the Education Sector; the Framework for the International Partnership against AIDS in Africa; the Status of the development of the Global Strategy; and financial and budgetary updates.
  • Provisional agenda item 9: UNAIDS contractual agreements with its Cosponsors, 1998-1999 (en | fr)
    A table showing the amounts UNAIDS has contributed to financing a number of HIV/AIDS-related activities of the Cosponsors during 1998-1999. This support has taken the shape of: General activities – workplan and other activities sub-contracted to Cosponsors for implementation; and the 1998-1999 Coordinated Appeal for Supplemental Funded Activities.
  • Provisional agenda item 9: contributions in-kind to UNAIDS, 1998-1999 (en | fr)
    Some countries, Cosponsors and other contributors have offered assistance to UNAIDS in the form of free office accommodation, human resources and/or office equipment. In-kind contributions to UNAIDS from governments and Cosponsoring Organizations included staff secondments, support to UN Theme Groups on HIV/AIDS, to UNAIDS Country Programme Advisors and other field-based staff, and other support.
  • Decisions, recommendations and conclusions (en | fr)
    UNAIDS is to further strengthen and maintain HIV/AIDS political mobilization, accelerate implementing well-coordinated national responses, support regional and subregional responses, ensure a more broad-based, decentralized coordinated response by all, and continue its country focus. All partners are to immediately implement the IPAA Framework. Cosponsors are to strengthen advocacy to mobilize education sector resources.
  • Provisional agenda item 8: update on the development of the Global Strategy Framework and UN system strategic plan 2001-2005 (en | fr)
    Reviews UNAIDS efforts to provide more systematic support to key national and international partner strategy development efforts. Discusses UN System summaries of current global institutional priorities, strategies and regional and country level action for addressing HIV/AIDS, as well as governing board actions. Working drafts of agency summaries will be presented to future PCB meetings.
  • The greater involvement of people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS (GIPA): NGO PCB delegation (en | fr)
    Reports on efforts and challenges involved in making GIPA operational in order to ensure wider representation of PLWHA. It means consulting PLWHA and incorporating them into all areas of HIV work including decision making processes, strategic discussions, policy making or various levels of programme implementation. The end result should be activities that benefit all PLWHA.
  • Provisional agenda item 6: HIV/AIDS and the education sector (en | fr)
    UNAIDS and various partners are developing a coordinated response to the interaction between HIV/AIDS and the education sector. Priority actions: a) policy development and advocacy; b) AIDS curriculum reform; c) skills-based teacher training; d) counselling and health services; e) educational system capacity-building; f) resource mobilization; g) AIDS-education partnerships; and h) research and evaluation.
  • Provisional agenda item 7: framework for the International Partnership against AIDS in Africa (en | fr)
    The IPAA Framework describes an emerging strategy for working in partnership on AIDS in Africa; explaining why it is needed and why it differs from previous efforts. It outlines targets and goals for Partnership contributions; outputs and milestones for the next two years; IPAA functions and mechanisms; and roles and responsibilities of different actors.
