The United Nations Terminology Database (UNTERM) is a wide-ranging database that should be consulted for specialist terminology and nomenclature. The general rule at UNAIDS is to use the first spelling given in the latest edition of the Concise Oxford English dictionary (COED). This brief guide is intended to give the basic outlines of the way UNAIDS texts should be written and edited and to show exceptions from the style of WHO.
