This special section opens with a call for an HIV prevention revolution by the Executive Director of UNAIDS, Michel Sidibé in THE FUTURE OF AIDS STARTS TODAY.

THE BENCHMARK highlights a new global opinion poll which shows that, nearly 30 years into the epidemic, AIDS continues to rank high among the most important issues in the world.

TREATMENT 2.0 introduces the idea that in order to ensure all people in need of treatment have access to it the treatment platform needs to be radically simplified. Not only could cost savings be achieved but big HIV prevention dividends too.

In the section entitled MAKING SENSE OF THE MONEY, UNAIDS makes the case for health as a necessity instead of a luxury.

As power shifts from the G8 to the G20, five countries stand out as being able to help break the trajectory of the AIDS epidemic. BUILDING BRICS gives a short primer on Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Some of the biggest changes in political commitment to HIV have come from South Africa. "It's the first time one country has scaled up so quickly, to so many people", says UNAIDS Executive Director, Michel Sidibé. SOUTH AFRICA'S TRANSFORMED AIDS RESPONSE explores more.

The special section closes with SOUTH AFRICA: WHAT DO YOU THINK? UNAIDS asked a few citizens of South Africa to share their views on the changes.
