Kim Henderson is UNAIDS Chief, Knowledge Management.
Kim brings a combination of skills and experience encompassing knowledge management, policy, advocacy and programmes to her role with UNAIDS. She is passionate about ending inequality having worked for over 20 years on social policy and programmes in both domestic and international contexts. Kim has extensive experience in developing and implementing strategies to mobilise evidence and knowledge to achieve strategic goals. She also brings to UNAIDS deep expertise in gender equality and women’s rights, in particular, the prevention of violence against women.
Prior to joining UNAIDS, Kim held the position of Director, Policy and Evaluation at Our Watch - Australia's national foundation to prevent violence against women. Her previous roles were in international development and included senior roles with Oxfam International, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID). She led the Global Knowledge Management Team at UNDP and has embedded knowledge management approaches into all her subsequent work. She has lived and worked in Jakarta, Indonesia; Bangkok (where she covered the Asia Pacific region); New York with UNDP HQ and in her home country Australia where she has worked for the Commonwealth Government and Parliament as well as National and International NGOs. Kim holds a Masters Degree in International Development from Monash University and a Bachelor of Arts (HONS) Degree in Political Science and Journalism.
