UNAIDS Deputy Executive Director, Jan Beagle also participated in the 2015 Prince Mahidol Award International Conference, which took place in Bangkok from 26 to 31 January 2015. The Conference brings together leading public health leaders and stakeholders from around the world to discuss high priority global health issues, summarize findings and propose concrete solutions. During a plenary session Ms Beagle said, “The Post-2015 development framework is an opportunity for the international community to strengthen the global health system, within a framework that puts people firmly at its center and leaves no one behind."

The role of non- state actors in global health governance was discussed during the 2015 Prince Mahidol Award International Conference, which took place in Bangkok from 26 to 31 January 2015. Speaking at a parallel session, UNAIDS Deputy Executive Director, Jan Beagle said, “The Post-2015 development framework is our opportunity to agree on a inclusive framework with people at its center. By definition, this will require a new role for non-state actors in global governance. “

A report on the AIDS funding landscape in Asia and the Pacific, Investing for Results: How Asia Pacific Countries Can Invest for Ending AIDS, was launched on the side lines of the Asia–Pacific Intergovernmental Meeting on HIV and AIDS.

UNAIDS Deputy Executive Director, Jan Beagle met with the Chair of the 59 United Nations Commission on Status of Women (CSW), Kanda Vajrabhaya during the Asia-Pacific Intergovernmental Meeting on HIV and AIDS in Bangkok, Thailand on 28 January. Both leaders discussed gender equality issues and the new development goals which will be adopted later this year as the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) come to an end. Ms Beagle said, “The AIDS response is intertwined in each of the MDGs, just as women’s empowerment and gender equality have a multiplier effect in catalyzing social change in support of all the MDGs.” Ms Vajrabhaya said, “It is critical that men and boys are engaged as real partners in achieving gender equality.”
