UNAIDS and the Fonds de Dotation Transatlantique signed a cooperation agreement to leverage funds to support the AIDS response. The agreement was signed by the Chairman of the Fonds de Dotation Transatlantique, Bruno Julien-Laferrière and the UNAIDS Executive Director, Michel Sidibé on 17 October at the headquarters of the Banque Transatlantique in Paris, France.
Under the agreement a UNAIDS Fund will be established within the Fonds de Dotation Transatlantique. By donating to the UNAIDS Fund, private donors in France will be able to support initiatives to stop new HIV infections among children, eliminate stigma and discrimination and increase research and scientific cooperation.
The partnership is part of efforts to strengthen public-private collaboration and will provide an opportunity to reach out to new organizations and individuals who are interested in becoming more involved in the response to HIV.
“This partnership is a major step forward in enabling closer links with the private sector. Their resources, networks and specialist expertise will play a very important role in the future of the AIDS response.”
Michel Sidibé, UNAIDS Executive Director
“The Fonds de Dotation Transatlantique is proud to collaborate with UNAIDS. The UNAIDS Fund aims to support ambitious projects with the same inspiring enthusiasm as Mr Sidibé and his team.”
Bruno Julien-Laferrière, Chairman of the Fonds de Dotation Transatlantique
